Township schedules 134th culvert replacement, donates $200 after beaver removals

At its Nov. 26 meeting the Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors discussed maintenance plans for the 134th culvert replacement project. A contractor gave a possible start date of Dec. 3–4; the board agreed to ask the county for an extension on invoice submission so the township can receive related grant funding.
Board members also reported that roads are in good condition for freeze-up and that snowplow equipment will be installed and staff will begin route and machine training next week. Trucks are scheduled for DOT inspection and annual service; the board said it is exploring options for those services.
Chatham Township requested permission to store its water truck in Silver Creek’s storage shed. The board agreed to have the township attorney draft a storage agreement.
The board recorded that a trapper removed three beavers from 150th Street. Chairman Mike Helman moved to donate $200 to Jason, the trapper, for that work; Vice Chairman Brandon Geyen seconded. Supervisor Andy Christensen abstained; the motion carried 4-0.
No additional immediate capital authorizations were recorded; the board’s maintenance items included staff follow-up on the culvert schedule, the county invoice-extension request to preserve grant eligibility, and drafting an inter-township storage agreement.
