Saint Vincent de Paul reports $11,314 in utility assistance paid to Forest Grove households

Dave Wirtz, president of the local Saint Vincent de Paul chapter, updated the committee on the organization’s utility assistance program for Forest Grove residents and reported that the program has paid out $11,314 in utility assistance since the start of the year.
"My name is Dave Wirtz. I'm the president of our Saint Vincent de Paul organization," Wirtz said. He told the committee the assistance covers on average about $419 per household, with the highest payment at $834 and the lowest at $77. Wirtz said applicants must have lived in their home for 12 months and may not have received assistance from the organization within the prior year.
Wirtz said the CEP funds helped offset food purchases and reduced pressure on the pantry’s other resources amid rising food costs and reduced donations from the Oregon Food Bank.
Next steps: the organization will continue to use remaining funds to support utility and food assistance through the year and report back to the committee as needed.
