The West Bath Select Board discussed old business regarding town-owned land (map R01 R09) and whether to offer parts of a 55-acre parcel for sale while retaining the transfer station and the cell/radio-tower parcels.
A board member reported counsel had advised the town could sell the property “subject to an easement allowing continued use and maintenance of ATV trails as shown in the attachment” and suggested including that language in any RFP or advertisement of the property.
Members discussed parcel boundaries along Route 1, a small pond on the property, trail connections and the possibility of keeping a portion as a public viewpoint tied to a planned 2K trail. Board members asked staff to confirm which acres the town would retain (transfer station and tower) and to prepare or vet an RFP for formal approval at a future meeting.
No final sale or authorization was made at the meeting; the board asked staff to double-check easement language with counsel and present a drafted RFP at the next meeting for possible action.
