Chief Joe Brown presented the June 2026 police report and several related requests at the Robinson Township meeting.
Brown said the department responded to 369 calls for service in June and reported five criminal arrests. Traffic enforcement was increased after resident complaints; Brown cited 108 traffic stops that produced 74 citations and 45 warnings. He requested approval to certify a second officer at a patrol-rifle school (Oct. 5–9) and to send an officer to the CODI conference (Sept. 14–16) that will cover database updates and training; the board approved both requests.
Brown also said the department received a $38,000 grant to purchase tasers but that the necessary subscription and maintenance agreement carried additional costs the grant did not cover. He presented a subscription proposal that would cost about $941 this year and roughly $2,600 per year thereafter through 2031 (a total listed in vendor materials of about $13,941.93). Brown said he was asking the board to authorize signing the subscription agreement so the grant-funded equipment could be procured and the department could meet training and warranty obligations.
A motion to authorize the chief to enter the subscription agreement and to proceed with the grant-funded purchase passed on roll call. Board members discussed budgeting for the subscription payments in future years rather than a single-year outlay.
No disciplinary or policy changes related to the equipment were proposed at the meeting; the board's approvals covered training attendance and authorization to sign the maintenance/subscription agreement to access grant-funded equipment.
