Newburg R-II honors Trista Hance after regional teacher selection

The Newburg R-II Board of Education presented a certificate recognizing Trista Hance after she was selected as the 2026–2027 Missouri South Central Region teacher of the year.
S2 read the board’s certificate naming Trista Hance and noted she was one of 35 regional nominees and one of two winners in the South Central Region. Trista Hance (S3) told the board she still must complete three essay questions and obtain a signature from Mr. Dunn as part of the next steps in the state competition and said she would attend the state banquet in October whether or not she wins the state title: "I have to answer 3 more essay questions and...get signature from mister Dunn for that for approval, and then we'll go from there."
Trustees congratulated Hance and discussed taking a photo with the certificate and recognizing her at the staff breakfast and on a local radio morning show scheduled for July 27. Board members said they were proud she was representing the district at the regional level and wished her luck at the state round.
The board did not take formal action beyond the recognition; staff will arrange a photo and certificate presentation at a district event.
