Fremont Public Schools board approves $358,719 IXL subscription for ELA and math interventions

The Fremont Public Schools Board of Education on July 14 approved a five-year subscription to IXL Learning for English language arts and mathematics intervention and enrichment at a cost not to exceed $358,719, payable in three installments. The board voted 6-0 to adopt the contract and to delegate execution and day-to-day administration to the Assistant Superintendent or a designated designee.
The district told the board it has piloted IXL across multiple K–8 grade levels as part of its Multi-Tiered System of Supports and reported overwhelmingly positive pilot feedback from students and teachers. The board packet describes IXL as an adaptive online supplemental learning system that includes diagnostic and progress-monitoring assessments, individualized lessons and activities, and analytics and instructional resources for teachers.
The approved purchase covers subscription dates July 2025 through June 2030 with a proposed payment schedule in the board materials of $171,219 at the time of purchase, then $93,750 in 2026 and $93,750 in 2027. The motion to approve delegated authority to the Assistant Superintendent to sign and administer the contract, and to make payments and take other actions necessary to implement the agreement.
The motion to approve the IXL subscription was made by Terry Sorensen and seconded by Pam Murphy; recorded votes were Yea from Todd Hansen, Jon Ludvigsen, Pam Murphy, Mike Petersen, Sandi Proskovec and Terry Sorensen (6-0).
