Edgemont incorporation sufficiency hearings set for Aug. 30 and Sept. 18

The initial hearing is scheduled for Aug. 30 at 2:00 p.m.; the supervisor said he expects to adjourn that proceeding to Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. for a continuation of the sufficiency review. Counsel explained the hearings are governed by Village Law and limited to determining whether the petition meets statutory requirements; the town’s public notices list the information that petitioners must supply.
The town encouraged anyone with objections to file them in writing and noted that, if the petition is found sufficient, the supervisor would have a deadline to decide and a referendum would occur within statutory timelines. Officials also said the town will post reminders on digital boards and in meeting notices to encourage public participation.
