Georgia, speaking for Westcap, told the Greenberg Town Board on Aug. 20 that the community-action agency operates about 10 sites across the region and runs programs at the Greenberg CAP site at the TDYC community center.
She said Westcap completed a third‑party community needs assessment in April that flagged mental‑health access, food security and transportation as the most pressing unmet needs in the communities it serves. "We are redoing our programs and trying to assess where that would be," Georgia said, describing a case‑management model in which an assigned caseworker coordinates food assistance, job training, childcare and other services so families can stabilize.
Board members asked for clearer, site‑level outcome data to help residents and volunteers find services. A board member said a concise, itemized list — for example, how many Greenberg residents received food assistance or found jobs — would help the town refer constituents and support future funding requests. Georgia said Westcap maintains site‑specific statistics and will provide the requested data and promotional flyers, and that Amanda Kyle Shaw manages the Greenberg site at the community center.
The board agreed to post Westcap office hours and event flyers on the town website and to consider a fuller orientation session with site staff so town staff and volunteers can coordinate outreach without duplicating services. Georgia said she would send statistics and suggested success stories; the board asked that any materials be emailed to townboard@greenbergny.org so all members receive them.
Next steps: Westcap will provide the Greenberg site data, promotional materials and success stories; the board and Westcap staff will coordinate public‑facing outreach and consider an in‑person learning session for town staff and volunteers.
