The Saltville Town Council on Sept. 23 authorized Public Works Director Brandon Frye to draft and advertise a snow-removal bid for the 2025 winter season to cover heavy events beyond the town’s in-house capacity.
Frye told council the town has "plows and spreaders and [a] couple of trucks" and expects the crew can handle lighter snow events, but said heavier storms will require contracted services. Council members discussed including a list of roads and clearer responsibilities in the solicitation; Frye said the contract would specify which roads and responsibilities are the town’s and which belong to a contractor.
Council Member Ryan Comer moved for the town to proceed with advertising the snow-removal bid; Council Member Cary Sauls seconded the motion. The council voted unanimously to approve the request.
