Flowood board denies two free-port ad valorem tax exemption applications

The Flowood Board of Aldermen on June 5 voted to deny two applications seeking exemption from ad valorem taxes under Section 27-31-51 et seq. of the Mississippi Code, which governs personal property consigned to free-port warehouses. The applications were filed by Jackson Paper Company and Harris Industrial Products & Packaging.
Alderman Don Flynt moved to deny each application; Alderman Kathy Smith seconded both motions and the board approved the denials by unanimous vote. The minutes record that the board considered the statutory authority (Section 27-31-51 et seq.) in relation to the applications.
