George Lovell appeared during the hearing and spoke in favor of the application. After public comment, Alderman Deron Harmon moved to approve the permit and adopt the ordinance; Alderman Kathy Smith seconded the motion and it carried unanimously among members present.
The decision follows the public-notice and hearing process required for zoning changes and special-use designations. No members of the public spoke in opposition at the hearing. Alderman Kirk McDaniel briefly left the meeting after the vote.
Next procedural steps for the applicant will be to comply with any state licensing requirements and local conditions contained in the adopted ordinance. The board did not record additional conditions in the meeting minutes.
