The Ansley Facility/Safety/Transportation Committee met Feb. 9 and agreed to proceed with recommended repairs to the Alcove roof and to enroll in the Alcove RoofCare Protection Program, while recommending a districtwide preventative maintenance schedule to guide future facility work.
In attendance were Brent Petrick, committee member; Chris Varney, committee member; Derek Clay, committee member; and Kim Jonas, committee member. The meeting began at 6:30 p.m. and adjourned at 7:13 p.m.
Committee members reviewed and updated the district’s master project list. The group discussed targeted upgrades including updating gym lighting and installing motion-activated lighting in bathrooms, locker rooms and hallways to improve safety and reduce energy use. The committee recommended developing a comprehensive preventative maintenance schedule to formalize recurring upkeep and better prioritize projects.
The Ag Room project was discussed, and the committee determined to move forward with Facility Advocates to support that work. The committee reviewed the Alcove Roofing Assessment and agreed to proceed with the report’s recommended repairs and with enrollment in the Alcove RoofCare Protection Program.
Members also discussed transportation options, including the possibility of leasing buses instead of purchasing them outright. The committee did not make a decision on bus procurement; members said additional information is needed before any commitment.
As a next step, the committee scheduled a building tour in March before the full board meeting and asked teachers to submit maintenance "wish lists" to help staff and committee members prioritize projects.
No formal votes or motions were recorded in the meeting minutes for the items discussed; actions were recorded as committee agreements and next steps. The committee adjourned at 7:13 p.m.
