Planning official briefs council on Springside 484-unit project and a proposed 50,000 sq ft warehouse
Summary
The planning official told the council that the Springside 484-unit residential development has prior wetlands and P&Z approvals and that Inland Wetlands granted a temporary wetlands crossing for phase 2; staff also described a pending 50,000-square-foot warehouse site-plan application on Newfield Street that will likely be continued for design revisions.

A planning official briefed the Common Council on April 6 about recent land-use activity affecting Newfield Street.
The official said the Springside residential development, a planned 484-unit project on Newfield Street, previously obtained wetlands and Planning & Zoning approvals. For phase 2 access the developer sought and Inland Wetlands granted a temporary wetlands crossing to allow a construction access road adjacent to the power lines rather than using a newly constructed driveway.
Separately, the official said a proposed 50,000-square-foot warehouse on Newfield Street is a permitted use in the applicable zone; staff noted design deficiencies in the applicant’s submission and expected the Planning & Zoning Commission to present the application and then continue the matter so the applicant can address comments.
No formal council action was recorded during the workshop on these land-use items; both items remain under the review authority of planning, inland-wetlands, and zoning bodies as appropriate.
