Washington County prosecuting attorney thanks court, cites caseload figures

Brandon Carter, who said he has served as Washington County prosecuting attorney for the last 18 months and will leave that role on Aug. 3, addressed the court to express gratitude and to summarize his office’s recent caseload.
Carter said the office filed 3,276 felony cases, resolved 5,686 felony matters, closed more than 1,600 misdemeanor cases and had conducted about 30 trials so far in his tenure, a number he said may rise to 32 by the end of the following week. He thanked court members and county staff and said he hoped he was leaving the office in good shape for his successor.
The chair thanked Carter for his service on behalf of Washington County.
