Marlborough board approves payroll and payments, discusses monument cleaning and seals nonpublic minutes

At its April 22 meeting, the Marlborough Board of Selectmen approved routine financial warrants and minutes, discussed a quote to clean memorials and address the library exterior, and entered a nonpublic session that was later sealed.
Selectman Nelson moved and Chairman Paight seconded approval of the April 23 payroll warrant in the amount of $15,606.11 and the accounts payable payment manifest for $21,597.35; the vote was unanimous. Nelson then moved and Paight seconded approval of the April 15, 2026 meeting minutes; that vote was likewise unanimous.
The board reviewed a quote from Keene Monument to clean three memorials and recalk one memorial base and considered three options for cleaning the exterior of the Frost Free Library. The board agreed to proceed with the memorial work but asked the Library Director to clarify how the library lettering would be cleaned and whether the proposed methods (chemical, sandblast or other) might damage the stone or cause overspray or drips that would affect the building’s façade.
Town Administrator Ellen Smith reported that full restitution for damage to the Knowlton Street bridge from 2018 has been received. Later, Selectman Nelson moved and Paight seconded a motion to enter nonpublic session under RSA 91-A:3, II (c); the board entered nonpublic at 12:00 p.m. The public session reconvened at 12:15 p.m., the board voted to seal the nonpublic minutes, and the meeting adjourned.
