The Clarke County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously on July 13, 2026 to approve a package of routine and administrative measures, including a set of road and alley vacations in the unincorporated town of Hopeville, a new schedule of health insurance premiums for fiscal year 2027, a temporary liquor license for an East Lake Park event, an $11,836 contribution to Southern Iowa Trolley, and payment of routine county claims.
The meeting, called to order by Chairman Randy Dunbar at 9:00 a.m. at the Clarke County Courthouse, proceeded by unanimous roll-call votes on each item. Supervisor Dean Robins made the initial motion to approve the agenda; Supervisor Brian Sorensen seconded. Robins and Sorensen each moved or seconded the individual resolutions recorded in the minutes; the board’s votes were recorded as all Ayes.
Road and alley vacations (Res. 26-126) The board adopted Resolution 26-126 to vacate specified north/south and east/west portions of right-of-way and alleyways within areas described as East Hopeville and Original Hopeville. The resolution enumerates specific blocks and segments (Blocks 1–15 for East Hopeville and multiple blocks identified for Original Hopeville) where rights-of-way will be vacated. The motion to approve Res. 26-126 was moved by Supervisor Dean Robins, seconded by Supervisor Brian Sorensen, and approved unanimously by Chairman Randy Dunbar and the two supervisors.
Health insurance premiums for FY2027 (Res. 26-127) The board approved Resolution 26-127 setting the county’s fiscal-year 2027 health insurance premium structure and the employee/county split shown in the resolution's table. The approved weekly total premiums and employee/county shares are recorded as: single coverage — total premium $226.73 (employee cost $4.53; county cost $222.20); employee/spouse — total premium $554.90 (employee $115.89; county $439.01); employee/child — total premium $550.43 (employee $117.83; county $432.60); family — total premium $565.74 (employee $123.18; county $442.56). Corresponding per-pay-period totals were recorded as: single $453.46 (employee $9.06; county $444.40); employee/spouse $1,109.80 (employee $231.78; county $878.02); employee/child $1,100.86 (employee $235.66; county $865.20); family $1,131.48 (employee $246.36; county $885.12). The resolution as recorded in the minutes also lists a July adjustment line and the tabulated employee totals; the board approved the resolution on a unanimous vote (Res. 26-127).
Temporary liquor license (Res. 26-128) The board approved a temporary liquor license for Slips in Motion for an event at East Lake Park under Resolution 26-128. The motion was moved by Supervisor Dean Robins, seconded by Supervisor Brian Sorensen, and passed unanimously.
Contribution to Southern Iowa Trolley (Res. 26-129) Under Resolution 26-129 the board authorized a fiscal-year 2027 contribution of $11,836 to Southern Iowa Trolley. The motion was moved by Supervisor Dean Robins, seconded by Supervisor Brian Sorensen, and approved by unanimous vote.
Claims approved (Res. 26-130) The board approved claims submitted for payment covering July 7–13, 2026 under Resolution 26-130. The minutes list vendor payments and invoice amounts; example line items include Schildberg Construction (rock) $78,100.92; Warren County Health $26,640.22; Southern Iowa Council of Governments $6,130.25; and numerous routine vendor and service payments. The motion to approve claims was moved by Supervisor Brian Sorensen, seconded by Dean Robins, and passed unanimously.
