The City of Meservey City Council met July 14 and approved several routine items and operational requests, including a liquor license request from Donna’s Legacy, ordering weight‑limit signs for recently seal‑coated streets, and authorizing a trial purchase of an auto shut‑off water meter.
Mayor Miller called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. The council approved the meeting agenda (motion by Council member Cyneva Myers, seconded by Mike Gobeli), the June minutes (motion by Jennifer Burke, seconded by Mike McNutt) and the payment of July bills (motion by Mike Gobeli, seconded by Cyneva Myers); the minutes record each item as approved unanimously.
Under public input the minutes state Donna’s Legacy requested council approval to open a bar and obtain a liquor license. Council member Mike Gobeli moved to approve the request and Jennifer Burke seconded; the minutes record the motion as approved.
In departmental reports, council noted that street seal coat and repairs are complete and approved ordering five 10‑ton weight‑limit signs to keep heavy trucks off the repaired sections (motion by Cyneva Myers, seconded by Mike Gobeli). Maintenance discussion also noted playground sand needs tilling and a possible mosquito spraying.
On water meters, the minutes record two options discussed for an auto shut‑off meter: retrofitting current meters for about $300 each or buying a full unit for about $700, with an additional $25 per year to add the software subscription. Council member Mike McNutt moved to purchase one unit as a trial; Mike Gobeli seconded and the motion passed. Council also discussed past‑due water bills and possible collection options (assess to taxes or refer to a bill collection agency) for follow up.
The meeting closed with a motion to adjourn by Mike Gobeli, seconded by Cyneva Myers. The minutes list the next regular meeting as August 10, 2026.
