Sycamore High reports TVAAS distinction, expands CTE agriculture and FFA programs

Sycamore High School provided an academic update at the Cheatham County Board of Education meeting on Feb. 5, reporting strong student growth and program expansion.
The school said it earned a Level 3 TVAAS distinction, with students achieving a full year of growth on end‑of‑course exams and several teachers receiving high effectiveness ratings. Sycamore High was named a Reward School for 2024–2025, in part for ELPA scores, attendance, academic achievement and Ready Graduate indicators.
Administrators highlighted expansion of Career and Technical Education agriculture offerings and FFA programming, which now serve nearly 100 students with pathways including Agri‑science, Small and Large Animal Science, and Veterinary Science through a partnership with Wild Things Vet Clinic. The program will transition to a Horticulture emphasis in fall 2026 to support landscaping projects, floral design, crop production and a planned walk‑through garden. Recent student accomplishments cited include state and district awards in horse judging and student speaking competitions.
The presentation previewed upcoming events such as a greenhouse sale, competitions, FFA Camp and an SAE Showcase. Board members received the update as informational; no board action was required.
