Agenda and consent items: Board member John Patrick moved to approve the meeting agenda; Dale McCarver seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The board also approved the consent agenda, which included the Dec. 11, 2025 minutes and multiple requests to dispose of broken or unusable equipment across district sites; Chairman David Risner moved the consent motion and Robert Epps seconded it.
Grants: The board unanimously accepted a Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) Literacy Materials Implementation Support Grant of up to $540,000 to support literacy materials and implementation activities. The board also unanimously accepted a Tennessee Department of Education TN Tutoring Grant for FY26 for $12,500.
Capital purchase — elementary marquees: The board approved the purchase and installation of six elementary school marquees at a total cost of $275,000 to be paid from the district's fund balance. Board member Amber Locke moved approval and Jimmy Harden seconded. The motion carried 5–1; Board member John Patrick was recorded as voting no.
Personnel: The board approved tenure for the slate of teachers presented to the board (the motion was made by John Patrick and seconded by Jimmy Harden and carried unanimously).
Adjournment: Jimmy Harden moved to adjourn at 7:03 p.m.; Dale McCarver seconded and the motion passed.
