Administrators seek SLFRF-funded study and design work for municipal building

Village Administrator Nick Leonard and Director of Public Works Mitch Vis told the Board of Trustees on April 3 that staff will seek proposals, using State and Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (SLFRF), to evaluate and redesign parts of the municipal building and to produce a longer-term facilities plan.
Leonard described requests for proposals to design remodeling of the main restrooms, the hallway and the service-window areas that serve administrative and court offices, and asked for additional proposals to study office layout to maximize space. Staff also asked for a comprehensive proposal to examine the entire municipal building and to assess space needs and potential needs for the next 10–20 years. Leonard and Vis said they would bring the resulting proposals back to the board at the next meeting for discussion and possible approval.
Trustee Ann Price asked for more detail on what the full building study would include. Trustee Mike Will asked whether the board’s redistricting discussion would be considered when evaluating building needs. No dollar amounts or specific vendors were listed in the minutes; staff did not present a finalized contract or scope at this meeting.
If approved at a future meeting, the work would be funded from SLFRF dollars identified by staff; the minutes record planning and solicitation rather than a final spending decision. The next step recorded in the minutes is proposal submission and board review at the subsequent meeting.
