A community group requested permission to place a public blessing box at the Spillman Library to provide free hygiene and canned goods. Trustee Ann Price told the Village Board on March 6 that the Library Board had approved the project but wanted the Library staff and board to select the box name, color and location.
Administrator Nick Leonard said he would contact the group to convey those conditions. The board approved the placement with the stipulation that the Library staff and board approve the name, color and location and that the village reserve the right to remove the box if it becomes an issue.
No funding, maintenance schedule or operational oversight beyond those stipulations was recorded in the minutes; if the box becomes problematic the minutes state it may be removed by the Board.
