During the public-participation portion of the Feb. 6 Village of North Fond du Lac meeting, Debbie Kapp of Leadership Fond du Lac asked the board to consider allowing a donation box at the village library for hygiene items and canned goods.
Kapp said the proposed box would be 5 feet by 5 feet by 30 inches and that students in the Horace Mann shop class would build it. Administrator Nick Leonard said he would contact Kapp to get more specifics and would have the Library Board consider the request at its upcoming February meeting.
Why it matters: the donation box would create a local access point for basic necessities and would involve a partnership with a local school program for construction. The board did not make a final decision during the meeting; staff follow-up and Library Board review were requested.
The board did not vote on the request at the meeting; Leonard will report back after gathering details and after the Library Board considers the proposal.
The meeting continued with staff reports and other agenda items following the public comment period.
