Board approves relocation order and hires real-estate services for McKinley Street Bridge project

The Village of North Fond du Lac Board of Trustees on Jan. 16 approved a relocation order and plat needed to secure right-of-way for the McKinley Street Bridge, DOT Project ID 4986-00-58, and authorized a real estate acquisition services contract for the project.
Administrator Nick Leonard explained the relocation order and plat are part of the process to obtain right-of-way for the bridge project. Trustee Chuck Hornung moved approval of the relocation order and plat; Trustee Ann Price seconded and the motion passed with four ayes.
The board later approved a contract with JEWELL for real estate acquisition services to support right-of-way purchases on the project. Trustee Ann Price moved the contract approval; Trustee Mike Will seconded. The board recorded four ayes and the motion carried.
The actions are preparatory steps for the DOT project; staff did not provide a contract dollar amount in the meeting minutes and said further implementation steps would follow. Administrator Leonard and Director of Public Works Mitch Vis indicated staff will continue coordinating right-of-way work with DOT and will return to the board with updates as negotiations and acquisitions advance.
Next steps: staff will proceed with the selected acquisition service provider and continue coordination with Wisconsin Department of Transportation project staff; final right-of-way transactions and any contract amounts will be returned to the board for approval if required.
