North Versailles adopts tentative $8.93 million 2025 budget, approves routine payments and fee changes

The North Versailles Township Board of Commissioners on Nov. 21 adopted a tentative 2025 budget that lists $8,928,941 for the General Fund, $310,621 for the Liquid Fuels Fund and $227,954 for the Fire Tax fund. The board also approved several routine payments and fiscal moves intended to close out 2024 and position the township for 2025.
The tentative budget was adopted by vote during the meeting; the board also approved payment of bills from the General Fund totaling $1,054,640.43 and from the Liquid Fuels Fund totaling $15,710.10. Commissioners voted to close a Brentwood Bank certificate of deposit for $219,237.83 and transfer the funds into the General Fund.
The board ratified Resolution 2024-9 to request $65,400 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding from Allegheny County Economic Development and designated Amanda Settlemeier (TCVCOG) as the township’s official for that application. The board authorized payoff of a $10,936.36 loan for Crestas Volunteer Fire Company No. 4 from the Fire Tax account and approved monthly Fire Tax payments to Crestas VFC #4 ($1,187.92) and to West Wilmerding VFC ($8,051.36).
The board approved raising the 2025 township refuse annual fee to $275, with a $25 discount if the fee is paid by April 1. Commissioner Saula recorded opposition to the refuse fee increase on the meeting record. A separate motion to grant $2,500 performance bonuses to the administrative clerk, code enforcement officer and parks and recreation director was tabled and not approved at the meeting.
Separately, the board approved Officer Todd Corbett’s application to enter the DROP program effective Oct. 19, 2024 and approved payment of $2,431.75 to H.R.E & K, LLC for title insurance related to the Naser Road intersection property.
