The Lyons-Decatur Northeast School District No. 20 Board of Education held a special tax request hearing on Sept. 8, 2025, opened by President Christiansen at 7:31 p.m. The district posted public notice in the Burt County Independent, on lyonsdecaturschools.org and on the school’s front door on Sept. 4, 2025.
The hearing was called "for the purpose of hearing support, opposition, criticism, suggestions, or observations of taxpayers relating to setting the final tax request for the 2025-2026 school year," the meeting record states. The record notes that "no visitors were present." With no public comment, the board recorded no motions or votes and President Christiansen closed the hearing at 7:33 p.m., according to the official minutes.
The district secretary certified in the minutes that the agenda had been kept current and available at the secretary’s office, that agenda items had been posted at least 24 hours prior to the meeting, and that news media requesting notification had been given advance notice. No formal actions or changes to the tax request were recorded at the session.
The minutes include attestation lines for the secretary and the president of the board; the board’s record of the hearing is filed with the district.
