Officials said they unexpectedly received $12,000 in opioid settlement money from the city of Auburn and that the additional funds could cover several months of drug screens for the addiction treatment court. The presenter said grant funding from the Office of Court Services has been awarded in part to cover drug‑testing but that some grants will not fully replace lost state DOC funds.
Council members asked whether participants reimburse for positive tests and how incentives are structured; staff replied that positive tests may require participant payment when grants do not cover costs. No formal appropriation was approved in this meeting; council members said they would consider appropriation requests during formal budget review.
