Buckhannon council approves building and wiring permits; public works reports paving, sewer upgrades and stormwater grant extension

Public Works Director Ethan Crosten presented a multi-part report on the city’s infrastructure activity at the June 4 council meeting. Crosten said crews are trimming alleys and performing general maintenance, sidewalk improvements are underway at 101 and 57 S. Kanawha Street and at 13 Cleveland Avenue, and crews are preparing to pave Pocahontas Street and Henry Street next week with Camden and Wood Street scheduled soon after.
Crosten reported ongoing Chestnut Street sanitary sewer upgrades with a directional drill planned for the coming week and progress on W. Main Street with about 300 feet of clay line remaining. He also said the application deadline for the Taylor Street Stormwater Grant has been extended to August and that the city does not expect award notifications until the fall.
On permits, Crosten circulated building and wiring permits included in the meeting packet. The council (Sanders/Randall) moved to approve the Building and Wiring Permits as presented; the motion carried with Councilmember Jack Reger recorded as abstaining. The packet included a Permit Fee Report (Permit #76922–#76937) detailing multiple residential and commercial projects and grouped totals for permit values and fees.
