Board approves purchase of sewer camera truck and electrician's replacement vehicle

The Crown Point Board of Public Works and Safety voted to approve two municipal vehicle and equipment purchases July 15: a 2026 GMC Savannah utility vehicle to replace an electrician's aging truck and a 2026 EnviroSight sewer camera truck purchased from Best Equipment via a lease-purchase through NCL Government Capital.
Terry, a city staff member, told the board the GMC Savannah (quoted price $70,342) will replace an older truck and includes a locking utility box suited to the electrician’s needs. "It's a replacement vehicle for one of our electricians," Terry said.
On the sewer camera truck, Terry said the camera system is used daily and helps crews find blockages and assess whether issues are in the city's system or on private property. "It goes out every day... we're finding out if it's our issue or the homeowners," Terry said. City staff said they identified federal funds that will cover the camera truck purchase so no local dollars are expected to be spent.
The board moved and approved the purchases during the meeting; staff will arrange delivery and follow lease-purchase paperwork.
