Principal reports: spelling bee winner, state wrestling qualifiers and upcoming events

Principal Frecks reported several student achievements and event updates during the Feb. 16 meeting of the Wauneta‑Palisade School Board.
Frecks said Gavin McKinney won the school spelling bee and will advance to the state spelling bee in Omaha. She noted students performed well at InterHigh Day (Division 2) and that vocal music and RPAC basketball events were successful. The district’s new wrestling mat has arrived, and students Kreyton and David qualified for the state wrestling tournament; Beyond the Mat will host an exhibition match featuring Bobby Chism and Lucas Linner at state. Subdistrict girls and boys basketball schedules were confirmed (girls subdistrict at Morrill; boys travel to Arthur County) and Frecks reminded the board that Community Hospital Career Day is scheduled for next week.
Superintendent Geier also noted he will attend the state wrestling tournament in Omaha and that the RPAC superintendent meeting is scheduled midweek.
The board acknowledged these reports; no action items resulted from the administrative reports.
