Tree Board outlines Arborday plantings, pollinator garden and neighborhood buffers

Mr. Amore said the Craig Hill Estates planting program (originally a 10‑year planting) needs infill and replacement after losses; the board plans to plant additional shrubs and witch‑hazel on a hillside to reduce mud and erosion near a walking trail and gravesite area. "We're gonna put 2 trees along, kind of the edge of that...we have 29 trees we're gonna have" for Arbor Day, Mr. Amore said, identifying the Arbor Day celebration on April 26 and a Craig Hill Estates planting around May 3–4.
The Tree Board also described a Saturday volunteer pollinator planting at the skate park (9 a.m.–noon) and asked for help advertising and recruiting volunteers. Mr. Amore noted coordination with Berkeley County and that some parcels (Lot 137, Lot 147) might offer future park or shade space options; he requested dimensions and bench placement guidance for the Liberty Street buffer and said maintenance will receive mulch and topsoil deliveries for planned plantings.
The board thanked the Tree Board for volunteer coordination and agreed to publicize the plantings and support logistics. No formal vote was taken; Mr. Amore asked staff to confirm logistics and tree drop times and to coordinate volunteer outreach.
