Wauneta-Palisade reports building repairs, school events and a failed bus purchase
Summary
Administrators reported hail-damaged glass replacement, air-handler repairs, and school activity dates; the district also said a planned bus purchase failed a mechanical inspection and was not completed.
Administrators updated the Wauneta-Palisade Board of Education on building repairs, calendar items and student activities at the March 16 meeting.
Board members were told that BD Construction and Tri-County Glass water-tested the north vestibule and scheduled replacement of hail-damaged glass. Trane visited on March 2 to replace parts on an air handler on the roof of the 1933 building. Rutts shipped a power exhaust assembly to the district on March 6 and the installer named Eric is expected to complete the installation when it arrives.
Separately, the board was informed that a bus the district planned to purchase last month did not pass mechanical inspection and therefore the purchase was not completed.
Superintendent Geier reported upcoming dates, including the NRCSA conference March 18–20 in Kearney and local calendar items such as no school March 24 (RPAC instrumental) and professional development on March 27. Principal Frecks highlighted recent and upcoming student activities: an FFA Barnyard, a Spelling Bee in Omaha, Read Across America week, the start of fourth quarter, a March 19 junior-high career fair trip, prom on March 21 and State FFA March 25–27. Ms. Hayes was noted as taking students to DCH.
The board set its next regular meeting for April 13, 2026, and adjourned at 6:32 p.m. MT.
