Board debates developer models; staff schedules landscaping workshop

During the May 5 meeting, a Planning and Zoning Board member proposed asking developers of large projects (particularly those west of I-95) to provide scale models or consolidated visualizations of multi-project areas so the public could better visualize future development. The member said such models could link several developments and help the public see how master-development commitments would look in practice.
Other board members questioned feasibility given long project horizons and changing plans; one member observed that extensive projects may be built over 5–15 years and that physical models or single iterations can become outdated. Staff suggested the idea might still have merit as a marketing or public-education tool and that staff could broach the concept with developers. No formal motion was made.
Separately, staff told the board a May 15 City Commission workshop will address the city’s landscaping ordinance, and staff said they may provide template language for motions to streamline future meetings.
