Board recommends rezoning at 1016 Dillon Circle to rural-agriculture

The Planning and Zoning Board recommended the City Commission approve a rezoning for 1016 Dillon Circle, voting 6–0 at its May 5 meeting.
City staff presented the application, explaining the property was annexed in 2020 and that the rezoning request seeks to change the zoning designation from A3 (transitional agriculture, one-acre minimum) to RA (rural agriculture state, 2.5-acre minimum). Staff said the proposed RA zoning would be compatible with neighboring annexed parcels.
Jessica Gallo of Cobko Law Firm, who represented the applicant, said the request is “a little bit of a down zoning” intended to match the pattern of surrounding properties. Gallo told the board an adjacent owner plans to sell roughly 1 acre to the applicant so the combined property would meet the RA minimum (Gallo, applicant representative). No members of the public spoke on the item.
After discussion and no public opposition, the board voted unanimously to recommend approval to the City Commission. The commission will consider final action on the rezoning.
