Community Redevelopment Agency adopts revised $8.61 million budget

The Community Redevelopment Agency adopted a revised budget of $8,610,395 at its April 22 meeting, a move CRA staff said was required under state statute and reflected updated revenue and carryforward adjustments.
CRA Director Samantha Bergeron told the board the revision was necessary after "the actuals have come in from the city and the county" and after staff discovered a carryforward left out of the original budget. She said the revision also reallocates funds to a list of capital projects that are not on the city’s capital-improvement program.
The revised budget includes a previously approved $460,000 grant for the New Smyrna Beach Housing Authority, Bergeron said. The board’s staff described the CRA’s capital tools as facade grants and capital projects, which the county authorized when the CRA was created.
Commissioner comments praised the careful construction of the budget and the staff work behind it. Following the presentation, a member moved to adopt Resolution CRA 01/25; the clerk called a roll and the listed members voted yes, and the chair announced the resolution adopted.
The board recessed after completing business and staff reported that the CRA’s annual activity report has been filed and posted, and that legal staff had submitted a letter opposing state legislation that could terminate CRAs. The board planned to reconvene at approximately 6:30 p.m.
The resolution was adopted by roll-call vote with the members recorded as voting yes: Member Perrine; Member McGurk; Vice Chair Martin; Chair Cleveland. The motion and final vote were recorded on the public record.
