Hallock City Council approves $1.67 million in bills, clears permits and resolutions

At its Oct. 6 meeting the Hallock City Council authorized payment of city bills totaling $1,665,036.24, approved multiple zoning/building permits, accepted $800 in donations and certified unpaid utilities to taxes. The Hallock City Council on Oct. 6, 2025 authorized payment of city bills listed by Administrator Kendra Kroening, totaling $1,665,036.24 (AF) and $6,597.42 (UVB), and approved a payroll transfer of $18,728.12. Councilor Naomi Larson moved to authorize payment; Councilor Mike Totleben seconded and the motion carried unanimously.
The council approved several minutes and a series of zoning and building permits. Councilor Kevin Waller moved to approve permit 2025-20 for a fence and shed (T. Sorenson); Councilor Naomi Larson and Councilor Mike Totleben led subsequent permit approvals for 2025-21 (deck replacement for Daniel Patch), 2025-22 (step replacement for Ron & Michelle Johnson), 2025-23 (new home construction for Ron & Alicia Anderson) and 2025-24 (deck for Tom Klegstad). All permit motions were moved, seconded and carried as recorded.
The council accepted Resolution 2025-26 to accept donations totaling $800 (motion by Larson, second Totleben) and adopted Resolution 2025-27 to certify unpaid utility charges to property taxes (motion by Larson, second Totleben); both motions carried.
Council reviewed a response from LMC claims adjuster Mark Nygaard, who reported he did not find the city at fault for a claim that was submitted. Council also received a construction schedule and paving contingency update from Moore Engineering; the next construction update meeting was set for Oct. 9 at 11:00 a.m. at City Hall.
Mayor David Treumer said the cannon will be moved to the Veteran’s Memorial in Lake Bronson. Clerk/Administrator Kendra Kroening announced the next regular meeting is Monday, Nov. 3, 2025; city office will be closed the morning of Oct. 22, 2025, and Kroening will be in Bemidji Oct. 23 for MCFOA training. With no further business, Councilor Naomi Larson moved to adjourn; Councilor Totleben seconded and the meeting adjourned at 6:52 p.m.
