Chase County Schools board approves rehabilitation-services contract, tables preschool furniture and substitute-pay items

Vice President Willy O'Neil called the Chase County Schools Board of Education to order at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday in Imperial, and the board approved a one-year service contract with Rural Rehabilitation Services for the 2026–27 school year.

Cindy Arterburn moved to approve the Rural Rehabilitation Services contract; Dan Reeves seconded the motion and the board voted unanimously in favor. The minutes record six "Yea" votes: Arterburn, Jake Banks, Jeff Banks, Willy O'Neil, Jeff Olsen and Dan Reeves.

The board also approved the district financial report for the period presented, totaling $824,704.72. Jake Banks moved approval of the financial report and Jeff Banks seconded; the motion passed with the same recorded six "Yea" votes.

Two items were tabled for later consideration. A motion to purchase furniture for two new preschool classrooms was brought forward but the board voted to table the purchase; the motion to table was made by Dan Reeves and seconded by Jeff Banks. Separately, discussion and a motion about substitute teacher pay were tabled after a motion by Jeff Banks and a second by Jake Banks. The minutes record the board members' votes on both motions as six "Yea" votes, indicating approval of the motions to table.

Several informational reports were listed on the agenda but not read into the minutes; the Activity Director's report, principals' reports and the superintendent's report are referenced in the minutes and are available in the district's Sparq meetings records. There were no public comments during the public comment period.
