Silver Creek supervisors approve maintenance contracts, set 28-foot minimum road width and renew liquor license

Silver Creek Township supervisors voted unanimously Tuesday to approve several maintenance contracts, set a new minimum road width and renew a liquor license.
Chairman Mike Helman and Supervisors Andy Christensen and Sandy Forsman, with Clerk-Treasurer Alana Paumen recording attendance, carried each motion 3-0 at the June 3, 2025 meeting. The board approved the meeting agenda and the May 20, 2025 minutes before moving to open forum and other business.
During open forum Julia Helaman urged the township to update its website design. Johann Massmann told the board he plans to attend an Xcel Energy meeting on June 11 and asked to represent the township; Helman moved to authorize Massmann to speak on the township’s behalf at that meeting, a motion Christensen seconded and the board approved it unanimously.
On maintenance the board accepted Knife Rivers’ bid for road overlays and accepted Astechs’ bid for UTBWC (the bid name as recorded in the minutes), approved necessary grader repairs to proceed, and voted to list used culverts for sale on MN Bid. Each of those motions was moved by Supervisor Andy Christensen, seconded by Supervisor Sandy Forsman and carried 3-0.
The board also adopted a minimum road specification of 28 feet wide after a motion by Christensen, seconded by Forsman; the motion passed 3-0. The township did not provide additional technical details in the minutes about where or when the new width standard will be applied.
In new business the supervisors approved the renewal of the Up the Creek liquor license (motion by Christensen, seconded by Forsman, carried 3-0) and voted to continue using Otto Associates as the township engineer (motion by Helman, seconded by Forsman, carried 3-0).
Supervisor Sandy Forsman moved to adjourn the meeting; Christensen seconded and the board adjourned.
