The Hortonville Area School District Board of Education on Monday approved a one-year waiver application to determine the tie-breaking system used for the Wisconsin Guaranteed Admission Program at Hortonville High School and adopted updates to its class-rank policies.
Board Clerk Brett Eidahl moved to approve the waiver application under Wisconsin Statute §118.58; Board Member Dana Ramshak seconded. The board took a roll-call vote and the motion carried. Eidahl also moved to approve recommended updates to Board Policy 5430 (Class Rank – Laude System) and Board Policy 5430A (Class Rank); Board Member Jessica Hartjes seconded and the motion carried on a roll-call vote. The transcript records the motions and that each motion “carried” but does not provide individual vote tallies.
Board President Robert VanDenElzen called the special open session to order at 7:00 PM. Present were Board Members Jessica Hartjes, Aaron Tomlinson, Klay Heise, Dana Ramshak and Brett Eidahl; Andrea Marcks-Ziegler was absent. VanDenElzen confirmed the public had been notified of the meeting by postings at district schools, the Hortonville Public Library, Greenville Town Hall and on the district website; notices were also sent to the Press Star and the Post Crescent.
With no further business in the special open session, Eidahl moved — and Ramshak seconded — to move into the Regular Open Session for the Board of Education; the motion carried and the board recorded the time as 7:14 PM. The meeting minutes are signed as "Respectfully submitted" by District Administrative Assistant Tamie Neilson and Brett Eidahl, Clerk.
