Chairman Helman moved to approve the grader‑tire purchase, including installation, with Supervisor Andy Christensen seconding; the motion carried 3‑0. Supervisor Christensen earlier moved to approve the $45 per person fee for the Fall Maintenance Expo; Vice Chair Brandon Geyen seconded and that motion also passed 3‑0.
Board discussion focused on short‑term road projects and equipment needs. The board directed staff to begin gathering estimates for a new hot box and discussed pit reclamation work for up to $30,000 this season. Otto told the board, “I will have road plans ready mid October,” and the board said those plans will inform budget decisions.
Supervisors also addressed damage on Barton Ave caused by an excavator and agreed the township should repair damage and invoice the responsible party in the future. Maintenance staff recommended working with homeowners about non‑compliant mailboxes and sending a letter to the owner of an “improved” driveway asking that it be brought up to specifications.
An individual or entity listed in the record as Clearwater asked the board to consider chipsealing Elder; the board said the request will be discussed at the upcoming budget meeting. No formal vote on chipsealing was taken at the Sept. 2 meeting.
The board’s approvals and directions set immediate spending and planning priorities for fall road maintenance; several items will return for further review when the board considers the budget.
