Silver Creek Township board endorses speed-study resolution and approves routine administrative items

The Silver Creek Township Board of Supervisors unanimously endorsed a resolution requesting a speed study and approved several routine administrative items at its Aug. 5 meeting.

Supervisor Ryan Nelson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m. and the board moved quickly through consent business. Supervisor Andy Christensen moved to approve the meeting agenda, seconded by Supervisor Sandy Forsman; the motion carried 4-0. Nelson then moved to approve the July 15, 2025 meeting minutes, seconded by Christensen; that motion also carried 4-0.

During the Clerk-Treasurer portion of the agenda, Nelson moved to authorize up to $70 for the clerk to attend a meeting by Couri and Ruppe at Franklin Twp, seconded by Christensen; the board approved the expense 4-0. Vice Chair Brandon Geyen moved to approve the purchase of flags, seconded by Forsman; that motion carried 4-0.

Under old business the board read a speed-study resolution; according to the minutes, "all supervisors are in favor." The clerk was directed to email a signed copy of the resolution to the MnDOT engineer for follow-up. The record does not show a separate roll-call vote for the resolution beyond the minutes noting unanimous support.

The board adjourned at 9:15 p.m.

Why it matters: A speed study typically precedes any formal change in posted speeds or traffic-calming measures; by sending the signed resolution to MnDOT the township is initiating that next step with the state transportation agency. The motions taken at the meeting were procedural and recorded as unanimous.
