Dodge County board moves routine items, schedules hearings for Coleman Road

The Dodge County Board of Commissioners handled a set of routine administrative and governance items on Sept. 15, approving accounts payable, ordinances, meeting dates and public hearings.
The board approved an accounts payable report totaling $169,959.70 after a motion from Commissioner Sharon Cobb Flanagan; Commissioners Leigh Ann Greene and Brian Watkins seconded the motion. Commissioners approved an update to the county’s alcohol ordinance (including caterers’ permitting fees) and approved a franchise fee ordinance to collect cable company fees. The board also approved a 2:00 p.m. Oct. 15 work session.
Commissioner Brian Watkins moved to advertise two public hearings to consider abandonment of Coleman Road; Commissioner Leigh Ann Greene seconded and the motion passed. The hearings were scheduled for 30 minutes prior to the next two board meetings, and Commissioner Watkins asked that county staff install signage to notify through traffic.
The board approved renovating the Milan voting precinct to add a restroom and windows to comply with state code requirements.
Public comment included a speaker, Chuck Parkerson, who discussed the county’s rollback millage rate. The board adjourned at 7:23 p.m.
