Dodge County wins $2.4 million GTIB grant, $2.43 million in loans for road projects

Dodge County accepted Georgia Transportation Infrastructure Bank approval for $2,429,108 in loans and $2.4 million in grant funds for county roads, County Manager Conner Bearden told the Board of Commissioners at its Sept. 15 meeting. The board voted to accept the award after a presentation from Bearden.
The GTIB funds are intended to support county road work; Manager Bearden also reported a Georgia Department of Transportation recommendation to refurbish rumble strips and update “stop ahead” signs at the Eastman–Milan Road and Highway 165 intersection. Bearden said the intersection work is part of the county’s broader GTIB project.
Commissioner Brian Watkins moved to accept the GTIB funding; Commissioner Leigh Ann Greene seconded, and the motion passed with all present voting in favor. The board did not specify a project-by-project funding allocation in the minutes.
