Target representative previews façade refresh at Brewton Road store; board flags EIFS and material standards

Sabriel, representing Kimley Horn and Target, presented a façade refresh for the Target at 8061 Brewton Road. The proposal calls for repainting all elevations, addition of red EIFS panels behind the bull’s-eye logo, and replacement or addition of building signage; no structural changes are proposed.
Board members asked whether EIFS would be used on the front façade and noted the town’s design standards discourage EIFS on primary frontages and require a base, midsection and crown to break up large masses. Sabriel said the team could substitute simulated wood longboard panels if EIFS is not acceptable and offered to supply material samples for the architectural reviewer. The board also requested site lighting locations and confirmation about which masonry/brick elements would remain unpainted.
Planning staff and board members indicated they were comfortable proceeding with the applicant providing revised materials or samples to the architectural reviewer and that the applicant might not need to return in person for subsequent simple modifications if the reviewer can accept the submittal electronically.
