Caledonia‑Mumford board elects Elizabeth Dowell president; Arnie Richelicki chosen vice president

The Caledonia‑Mumford Central School District Board completed its annual reorganization at the July 14 meeting. After administering oaths to newly elected and appointed members, the board elected Elizabeth (Liz) Dowell as president. Dowell took the oath of office, saying, “I, Liz Dowell, Elizabeth Dowell, do solemnly swear that I will support the Constitution of The United States of America and the Constitution of the State of New York and I will faithfully discharge the duties of the office of President according to the best of my abilities.” The board declared the motion carried unanimously.

For vice president, nominations included Arnie Richelicki and Cameron Seeley. The chair announced roll‑call counts and reported the outcome: “ayes for Arnie Richelicki are 5, nays 2” and therefore Arnie Richelicki was elected vice president for the 2026–27 school year; he then took the oath of office.

The board also approved routine reorganization items: officer appointments (district clerk Sherry Murdock; district treasurer Desiree Lyman), official depositories (Tompkins Bank listed as Bank of Castile replacement), auditors, compliance officers, committee memberships, and committee chairs for the year. The board confirmed committee assignments and plans to publish committee meeting dates in advance to support member participation.

Why it matters: The reorganization establishes the board’s leadership and the administrative designations that enable the district to manage finances, contracts and compliance for the coming school year.
