Residents say new downtown parking enforcement is creating hardship; council points to permits and municipal lots

Council members and staff responded that parts of the city outside the core are unlimited and that municipal lots on Bridal Street, Warren Street, and Exchange Street offer resident permits; staff said the Elm Street municipal lot does not have permits and is a three-hour area. Staff said they will post clearer maps and permit information on the city website and advised residents about alternative lots and permit procedures through the clerk's office.
The council did not change parking rules at the July 14 meeting. Councilors encouraged staff to provide an online explanation of permit options and signage to reduce confusion for downtown residents and workers.
