Board hears stadium renovation report: $2.17 million finish, landscaping issues remain

Superintendent Tom Hamilton and staff member Jack Timmer told the Orchard View Schools Board on June 15 that stadium renovation work has concluded at an overall cost of just over $2.17 million.
Hamilton said roughly half the project was funded from the sinking fund, $68,000 was charged to technology and security budgets and the remainder came from the General Fund. He noted approximately $180,000 in unforeseen work — for example, a retaining wall — that was not anticipated at the outset and that district staff are still addressing outstanding landscaping issues.
Board members asked questions about final costs and remaining site work during the stadium overview. The board did not take a separate vote on the project at the June 15 meeting; financing and final closeout tasks were discussed as part of the presentation.
The district described some equipment and facility improvements made during the past year across athletics programs, including a remodeled football stadium, new pole-vault and high-jump mats provided at no cost to the district, and the purchase of a mobile field-painting robot. Staff said they will continue to resolve landscaping and punch-list items related to the renovation.
