Ely council approves Title VI plan, liquor license and employee insurance renewal; several routine items pass
Summary
At its Sept. 26 meeting the Ely City Council approved the Title VI Implementation Plan, issued a Class II liquor license to Golden Gate Petroleum, and renewed employee health coverage (Sierra Health & Life) and ancillary plans (Kansas City Life). Several consent items also passed.
The Ely City Council cleared several administrative and routine items during its Sept. 26 meeting at the Ely Volunteer Fire Hall.
The council unanimously approved the City of Ely's Title VI Implementation Plan, a compliance document tied to federal funding eligibility. During public comment George Chachas criticized the timing of the plan's availability to the public but the council proceeded to approve the plan.
During a recess to the Ely Liquor Licensing Board, the board approved a Class II liquor license for Golden Gate Petroleum of Nevada, LLC at 147 North U.S. Highway 93, effective Sept. 27, 2024.
On benefits, insurance broker Logan Neely presented multiple medical and ancillary options; City Treasurer/HR Director Janette Trask recommended renewing medical coverage with Sierra Health and Life and moving dental, vision and life policies to Kansas City Life to reduce ancillary premium costs. The council approved the renewal for the coverage year beginning Dec. 1, 2024.
Council also approved minutes and bills as part of the consent agenda, and approved substitution of counsel in litigation involving the NNRY and the State (Case No. CV24-02011). The meeting concluded with public comment on local matters and adjournment at 5:58 p.m.
