Pflugerville ISD spotlights CTE expansion, teacher pipelines and student programs in administration report

Superintendent Dr. Shepherd presented the administration report and used the update to spotlight programs the district says will connect education to career pathways and support students and staff.

Dr. Shepherd described the Pflugerville ISD Pathways Strategic Framework and the district CTE center, which the administration said will offer a network of 13 career clusters and 20 programs of study across the district’s four high schools. He noted the district "turned dirt on our new facility" earlier in the week and directed trustees to page references in the administration report for additional detail.

Other items highlighted included HR’s "front porch" outreach visits to campuses and departments intended to strengthen staff belonging and support, Hendrickson High School’s Future Teachers internship to give students hands‑on experience, and Delco Elementary’s work with a partner organization called Transcend to pilot classroom innovation. The superintendent also referenced Palmer Lane Elementary’s STEM night and the Panther Talks series at Pflugerville High School that connects students with local professionals.

Trustees praised the initiatives, pointing to expanding industry certifications, AP Capstone diploma recipients, and scholarship totals. One trustee noted the district’s food services expansions and community eligibility work to expand free and low‑cost meals.

A trustee also called out the district’s planned rollout of student ridership badges—ID badges intended to track bus boarding and disembarking to improve safety and provide access to food services and library materials.

The administration report was provided in the board book and trustees thanked staff for making information available in advance of the meeting.
