San Antonio’s City Council approved a change of zoning at 13526 Nacogdoches Road on Feb. 19 that will allow a construction-trades contractor facility at the location.
Planning staff told council the request was to change the zoning from C-2 to C-2-C-D with a conditional use for a construction trades contractor facility and recommended approval with a condition requiring a 15-foot Type B landscape buffer along the rear property line that abuts single-family homes. The zoning commission had recommended approval without that condition; staff reported 43 mailed notices with two returns in favor and none opposed.
Councilman White moved to approve the rezoning without the buffer condition, saying the site is currently a concrete parking area and that installing the buffer would require ripping up pavement. "This is a a parking lot, a a a concrete parking lot that they would have to rip up to put in this buffer and nobody wanted to do it," White said. The motion to approve without the buffer carried.
