SAN ANTONIO — The Historic and Design Review Commission convened Feb. 18 and approved the Feb. 4 meeting minutes, a two-item consent agenda and several project certificates of appropriateness.
The commission approved the minutes for Feb. 4, 2026, and then moved the consent agenda (items 1 and 2) with all staff stipulations. Staff advised applicants on the consent list that their certificate of appropriateness or commission action letter will be prepared and emailed within 10 days.
In other quick actions, the commission approved Case 3 (418 V Ita, a Mexican restaurant) as submitted with staff stipulations; the applicant and architect (Mark Navarro, noted by staff) were present. The commission also approved a waiver and certificate for a rear detached wood carport at 525 Mission Street (HDRC case 2025-353) with stipulated wood construction details, standing seam roof specifications and the requirement that an inspection be scheduled with staff prior to the start of work.
The meeting closed after the commissions’ final case and comments from the chair on collaboration and adherence to design guidelines. As with all HDRC approvals, applicants must still secure any required permits through the city before beginning work; staff will assist with next steps and prepare the formal action letters.
